'69 Woodstock Festival panel discussion.

From the http://www.woodstockmusicshop.com/ website:

The Colony CafĂ© will host the "Roots of '69 Woodstock Festival" Event this Saturday, August 9. The event will feature discussion panels from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and live music from 2:45-5 p.m. This is a FREE event! Woodstock Times Publisher Geddy Sveikauskas will moderate a panel discussion, which will detail the events surrounding the legendary three-day Woodstock Music and Art Fair and how the concert came to bear the Woodstock name – even though it was held in Bethel, over 60 miles away from Woodstock. Panel members include: Michael Lang, ‘69 Festival promoter and musical visionary; Paul McMahon, local musician; Bill West, former government official; Jeremy Wilber, former Town Supervisor; and Jean Young, co-author of "Woodstock Festival Remembered.” Musical performers will include Joey Eppard, Naked, SPIV, Ben Vita and Hair of the Dog, among others.

Colony Cafe is located on Rock City Rd in the center of Woodstock, NY & always hosts amazing events.

John Simon performance location.

Here is the link to the lovely Aroma Thyme Bistro in Ellenville, NY where John Simon performs jazz w/ various musicians every Thursday beginning @ 8:30 PM. John produced the first two The Band albums & was often times considered the sixth Band member. No cover charge for the jazz sessions.

Poster from recent Todd "Rungren" performance.

Thanks goes out to Bob Andrews (again!) for submitting this poster his brother Patrick (w/ his son Dustin) acquired while in Woodstock, NY to attend the Bearsville Theater performance. Bob pointed out the incorrect spelling of Rundgren's name.

The Band website archives are alive!

Jan Hoiberg & crew have set up the no longer active The Band website, but the archives are no available @ the same old website address. The website was arguably the best music artist-related website available thanks to Jan & crew's diligent work.

Interesting reply from a reader to our Brown album post.

The Band wanted to name the album 'Harvest' (my favorite unused album title) however, the record company didn't want any confusion on the name of the band on the second album so they wanted 'The Band' written on the cover. The Band, however, was not interested in having a bunch of words on the cover and opted to just write: 'The Band'

Thanks again to Bob Andrews of Michigan (& Tony LoBue of http://www.levonhelm.com/) for a copy of the logo for the Levon Helm's Classic American New Orleans Cafe that unfortunately did not last long due to a financial investor backing out.

Levon Helm's 100th Ramble set list.

Thanks goes out to one of our readers, Bob Andrews of Michigan (and Tony LoBue of http://www.levonhelm.com/) for providing the set list from Levon's 100th Midnight Ramble. As always, another amazing set.

Beverly D'Angelo was a Hawk.

Some are surprised to find out that Beverly D'Angelo was a Hawk (backup singer) w/ Ronnie Hawkins in the '70s. D'Angelo is well known for her Ellen Griswold character in the National Lampoon Vacation flicks. She also played Patsy Cline in Coal Miner's Daughter, same movie that had a Levon Helm cameo. D'Angelo is interviewed in Hawkins' Still Alive & Kickin' doc that focuses on his survival from a cancer bout.
